Game revival through AI engineering

block-game-2

Reviving BlockWorld—a valuable product inside a large, difficult legacy codebase—using agentic techniques and engineering harnesses.

The project

BlockWorld is an older game with significant product value, but its large and untidy codebase makes conventional maintenance and redevelopment difficult. block-game-2 is the effort to bring that product back to life.

The revival approach

This is more than applying AI to a legacy repository. The work uses structured agentic engineering to make change safer, preserve hard-won knowledge, and steadily improve confidence in a codebase that cannot be cleaned up all at once.

Engineering harness

  • Guardrails that constrain risky changes and enforce important development rules.
  • Durable project context that helps agents retain intent, architecture, and history.
  • MCP integrations that give tools controlled access to the systems they need.
  • Quality-control harnesses that validate behaviour and expose regressions.
  • Repeatable workflows for inspecting, planning, implementing, and verifying changes.

Status

The BlockWorld revival is in progress. More detail about the original game, the codebase, and the engineering process will be added as the work develops.
